The founding teaching team
Help shape the practice.
Help shape the place.
Joy will be a neighborhood yoga studio in Fells Point, Baltimore. We’re bringing together teachers who want to help build its classes, its culture, and the connections that make people want to return.
You don’t need an interest in AI to be a teacher here. You do need care for your students, a thoughtful relationship with your own practice, and an openness to building something with others.
Introduce yourselfA first conversation, not a commitment.
What “founding” means here
A place in Joy’s first teaching team, with a voice in the class experience, teaching standards, and community culture. The first opportunities will begin with the paid pop-up program, ahead of the studio opening in spring 2027.
“Founding teacher” describes an early team role. It is not, by itself, an offer of equity, ownership, or guaranteed hours.
Clear terms before you commit
We’re still shaping the roles. Rates and schedules aren’t set yet. Before any work begins, we’ll agree the scope and terms in writing, including:
- Pay & time
- Teaching rates, paid preparation or content work, expected hours, cancellations, and when you’ll be paid. No open-ended expectation to build or maintain a companion alongside your classes.
- Your teaching
- What you’ll lead, what you’ll help shape, and how we’ll make programming decisions together.
- Your voice & content
- You keep ownership of your original material. Any permission for Joy to use it will be specific and agreed in writing, including approval of how your name and teaching are represented.
- An optional pilot
- Companion participation is a separate choice, not a condition of teaching. We’ll agree the paid scope, review process, support responsibilities, and how you can pause or withdraw.
- If you leave
- We’ll agree how your companion is taken offline, how your material is removed or returned, and any limited retention obligations. No assumption that Joy can continue using your teaching identity after you leave.
Local knowledge matters
We’d especially like to meet teachers with roots in Baltimore and Fells Point, including someone interested in helping lead the local teaching program. Your understanding of the neighborhood should help shape Joy from the start.
Have questions before putting yourself forward? That’s exactly what the first conversation is for.
Let’s get to know you.
Tell us about your practice, your experience, and what you’d love to help shape at Joy. No résumé needed to begin.
